Obedience

Obedience is having MORE faith in our Heavenly Father, then we do in ourselves.  My mom just said that this morning.   It really struck me when she said that.  We should get our Heavenly Fathers 'ok' before we do so many things in this life.  We shouldn't do things because we want to do them, but because it's because we know it's what God wants us to do.  There are leisure things we can do because we want, but the big decisions in life we should do what God wants, and where he wants us to go.

 TO THE RESCUE

I admire a lot of different people that are a part of my life.  There are a lot of people that I would love to become like in this life.  I admire my parents and my siblings for all of their different and wonderful qualities.  I admire my wonderful loving husband, who inspires me, strengthens me, and helps me to want to be a better person.  I admire my mission president and his wife, the Swinton's, and that list could go on and on.                                                                                                                                                
The reason I wrote this is because I am currently reading President Monson's biography, and my mission presidents wife wrote it.  And she is one person, when it comes to the gospel, that I would love to be like.  Just in her preface there are some amazing quotes that I love.. lots of them!!

So for my first 'study' I guess you can call it, I am going to share some of the quotes that I love the most so far from 'To The Rescue' President Monson's Biography.

One of President Monson's favorite teachings: "Remember that faith and doubt cannot exist in the same mind at the same time."
~I love this!!  It's so true.  We all have doubts at some point in our lives, but we can't let them linger in our minds.  When you have faith in Jesus Christ, and know that God is there it makes it simple.  Doubts will come, but they will slip on by just as easily.  The answer lies in D&C 6: 36..  'Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not.'  When we turn to our Heavenly Father in every single thought.. or doubt.. he will ease our minds and give us peace always!  

This is a quote from Sister Swinton about President Monson:  "The other thing I realized, quickly, is that he is as good as he appears.  He is the kind of person that people think he is.  There is no pretense or show, bravado or self-congratulation.  He gives all he has to the moment at hand.  I have let those who are close to him share their observations of this uncommonly good man.
  And shouldn't he be? he is the Lord's chosen prophet on the earth today.  He is not perfect.  But to look for his failings is to suggest that mortals can measure and asses the life of such a singular servant of God.  We learn from him what we learned from Abinadi, Nephi, Enos, Peter and Joseph Smith:  The calls disciples to his work at the time He needs them.  It has always been so.
  In this era of the last dispensation, when cultures have squandered their rights to God's inspiration, when men's hearts have failed them and their designs are not in keeping with the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ, our Father in Heaven has placed a prophet in our midst so that we can carry on."
 ~WOW is all that I have to say about that!   How blessed I feel to be know that God really has placed a prophet in our midst so we can carry on.  I really do know that President Monson is a prophet of God.  I was able to gain that testimony as a missionary in the city of Yeovil in England.  I was able to raise my hand and sustain him for myself I felt a burning in my heart that told me, 'sister Sorensen that man is truly a prophet of God.'
